Southwark Park Galleries is seeking a fixed-term Public Engagement Manager (Maternity Cover)
We are looking for an experienced candidate to join our small, passionate gallery team on a fixed-term, maternity cover basis. The Public Engagement Manager’s primary role is to develop an effective Public Engagement programme which delivers and promotes an engaging programme that includes challenging, meaningful and inclusive workshops, talks, debates, performances, artists’ opportunities, partnership working and collaborations, and other learning and social inclusion events.
This is a 2 day per week PAYE position for a fixed-term period of 12 months (July/Aug 2021 – July/Aug 2022) with a probation period of 3 months.
Southwark Park Galleries is managed by The Bermondsey Artists’ Group. We are an artist-led contemporary art gallery and community arts charity set within the beautiful surroundings of Southwark Park, Bermondsey, North Southwark. We are an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation (NPO).
We are recognised locally and nationally as a leading, experimental contemporary visual arts venue in London with an established reputation as a test-site for ambitious artistic practice. We were founded in 1984 by a group of artists living in Bermondsey and Rotherhithe. They transformed a derelict café in Southwark Park into a gallery to create a cultural platform through which artists could engage meaningfully with their neighbours and as a site for free access to high quality art, creativity and learning as a core part of their daily lives. Since then we have grown to encompass two gallery buildings within the park and 37 years of high quality free exhibitions and free, meaningful, learning activities. Our ongoing celebration of individual and community creativity places us firmly at the centre of the cultural life of South London.
