Poems and Pages: Writing Centos* and Bookbinding Workshop
with Writer and Artist Kandace Siobhan Walker

Wednesday 8 & Thursday 9 May 2024
11am – 3pm each day
Southwark Park Galleries // Dilston Gallery

Open to inquisitive minds over the age of 55
Free, booking required

The workshop will explore the creative dreaming-spaces opened up by craft, playing with cento poems* as a vehicle for dreaming, experimentation and radical ideas, and building hand-bound books to house these poems. We will look at the work of poets like Cameron Awkward-Rich, Simone Muench and Joelle Taylor. By the end of the workshop, attendees will have written a cento and created a unique, hand-bound notebook.

*a cento is a literary work collaged entirely from other authors’ verses or passages.

You are invited to bring with you a text — a poem, novel, article, play etc. — that you feel inspires hope (please note this isn’t strictly necessary).

To celebrate all the wonderful people who have contributed to a successful programme over the years, in 2024 we are launching our first Seniors Art School Exhibition as part of our 40th celebration! The artworks created during the workshops will be in a public show in the Salter Space at Southwark Park Galleries from 28 September to 27 October 2024. Save the date!
