Illuminate Bermondsey & Rotherhithe is a free annual festival for local residents. Come and make your own lantern at Illuminate Bermondsey & Rotherhithe artist-led workshop and then bring your illuminated artwork to The Blue Market Place at 5 pm on Friday, November 24, 2023 for the Lantern Procession to Southwark Park Bandstand.
In this drop-in free workshops for families and carers with pre-schoolers, our artists show you how to design and build your own lantern using jam jars or plastic bottles and tissue paper.
Please bring your own jar or bottles to recycle into lanterns, all other materials are provided, including lights. There will also be Magic Lantern display to enjoy and children will get a chance to display their own lanterns at the end of the session.
Take your lantern home and bring it to the parade! Lantern Parade meets at 5pm Friday 24 November 2023 in Market Place, London SE16 3UQ, departing 5.30pm. Music and refreshments at Southwark Park Bandstand from 6pm.
All ages are welcome. Children should be accompanied by a parent or carer. Please get in touch about disabled access and SEN.
