Southwark Park Galleries and its managing charity, Bermondsey Artists’ Group, celebrates its 40th Anniversary starting with the appointment of 5 new Trustees: Rowena Chiu, Emma Gifford-Mead, David Micheaud, Sid Motion and Jon Sharples. The new members join our current fantastic Trustees Haseena Farid, Molly Grad and Mary Wang.
We are delighted that art lawyer Jon Sharples (Howard Kennedy LLP) has taken the helm as our new Chair:
“As a big fan of Southwark Park Galleries’ programme, I am so excited to be taking up the position of Chair of the charity’s Board of Trustees in this, the organisation’s 40th anniversary year.
I am passionate about providing a platform for artists to make ambitious art and have a good time doing it and am really looking forward to supporting Judith and the team in building on the great successes of the last few years. As an adopted South East Londoner for the last 12 years, I am proud to have this opportunity to make a contribution to the creative lives of residents, workers and visitors in what is obviously the best of London’s four quadrants!”
Jon follows in the footsteps of PLINTH UK’s Paul Franklyn and ASSEMBLE’s Giles Smith; who passionately Co-Chaired the charity through the pandemic – our hardest years to date – leading us to our current position of regrowth, as we look towards our next forty years in the heart of our beautiful park.
