The legendary unselected exhibition, unbelievably now in it’s 30th year, has led the field in ‘hang the lot’ aesthetics since 1984. Hundreds of small works at attractive prices, the Cafe Gallery Open Exhibition, representing all artists, consolidates its position as the Open Exhibition!

This year the ‘best in exhibition’ prize of £100 will be selected by Robin Klassnik, Director of Matt’s Gallery. The emphasis of the Annual Open continues to be on the display of small works, affordable and accessible to the public. The exhibition retains its original intention, maintaining the tradition of a well established, recognized and popular annual event attracting new generations of exhibitors and gallery visitors.

Members of the public are directed by road signs to the gallery from Canada Water underground station which is on the Jubilee and Overground Lines. After a short walk through this year’s spectacular leaf fall in Southwark Park; to enter the gallery is to pass from the red and gold colours of approaching winter into a bright palace of massed contemporary iconography in the forms of sculptures, videos, prints and drawings, photographic works, as well as of the variously textured and pigmented paintings which surround us stacked high up to the ceiling of this Aladdin’s Cave.
