Now in its 39th year, 2023’s Annual Open takes place both online and in our Lake Gallery.
Each year a winning prize is awarded, generously donated by Breckman & Company. We are very excited to continue this year’s prize of £500 towards a solo exhibition in our Salter Space. The 2023 judges are Florence Peake and Tim Spooner.
The Annual Open exists to encourage artists at all stages of their career from across the UK to submit their work as part of a large-scale annual salon show. Since the gallery opened in 1984, the Annual Open has been a highlight of Southwark Park Galleries’ calendar.
The exhibition showcases the diverse practices of artists working today, with over 400 works in drawing, painting, photography, print, sculpture and video. From its inception, the ethos of the Annual Open has always been about accessible participation for all; to this day there is no selection criteria.
There is an admission fee to enter and all applications are accepted and exhibited.
Winter Gathering: Saturday 9 December 1-4pm
To mark the close of this year’s Annual Open, join us Saturday 9 December 1-4pm for carols in the garden sung by our friends The Rotherhithe & Bermondsey Choral Society at 3pm, with thanks to the Southwark Park Association 1869, mulled wine and the Annual Open winner announcement.
