This year The Big Draw Festival theme is Climate of Change. Southwark Park Galleries’ location in Southwark Park means we are connected to the local flora and fauna that exists here, some of which is endangered, and pushes us to develop creative approaches to climate change.
As part of the Big Draw, we have developed a series of Digital Ecology Packs, for families to do at home. Each pack contains a set of simple instructions with suggested easy-to-source and recycled materials to use and an estimated time for the activity. The packs are intended for children aged 2-11yrs, the younger you are, the more your adult will need to work with you.
Fani Parali has drawn from her exhibition Aonyx and Drepan & The Minders of the Warm and invites you to create mythical creatures that live under water in Thinking by Inventing. Be inspired by real animals and their habitats and imagine hybrid creatures with different qualities!
In Birds, Nests & Feeders developed by artist Lily Hawkes, you will discover and make artworks inspired by some of the beautiful bird species that live in Southwark Park and celebrate our amazing natural world.
You may like to go on a walk in the park and try to spot some of these bird species in real life. You can also visit the RSPB website to discover their birdsongs.
Show us what you have created! Tag us in your posts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and use the hashtag #ClimateofChange or you can email photos of your work to firstname.lastname@example.org
Our Digital Packs on the Environment are made possible thanks to the generous support of RIVA, Arts Council England and Southwark Council.
